Jon Carter has a long history with both British & Irish Baseball. He holds a BaseballSoftballUK Level 2 certification & works with both youth & adults.
After starting out as a semi-professional footballer with various clubs in the South East of England, Jon moved over to baseball in the late 1990's & became a player, coach and the General Manager at Tonbridge Baseball Club, which produced a large number of young players who went on to achieve selection for GB programmes. Jon then spent six years with the Brighton Buccaneers Baseball Club, winning three National Championships & helping the club reach the final of the European Cup in 2000. Jon was a regular selection for the GB senior Baseball Team from 2000-2004 & in 2015 played for the 35+ Dodgers in Arizona.
After moving to Northern Ireland in 2006, Jon became a committee member on the Castlereagh Sports Development Association, rejuvenated the Belfast Northstars Baseball Club, founded the Belfast Buccaneers Baseball Club & in 2013 founded the Baseball/Softball Academy in Northern Ireland, running weekly sessions for children in interface areas, uniting Protestants & Catholics through baseball. He also led an effort to secure Northern Irelands first purpose-built baseball facility, which opened in 2016.
Jon now runs the Buccaneers Travel Team & Hurricanes Youth Baseball.
Ryan Turtill runs the weekly "Baseball for beginners" classes at Finsbury Park which have been incredibly successful at developing new players & increasing participation in British Baseball at all levels. His approach has created a culture at the London Mets Baseball Club that welcomes & fosters a real sense of team camaraderie in a short space of time. He has also run coaching clinics for BaseballSoftballUK & focuses on personal coaching sessions for baseball & softball players looking to improve. Ryan is an invaluable contributor to British Baseball & has also been instrumental in founding the Greater London Mixed Softball League (GLMSL) Softball 101 coaching programme, as well as working with several other softball leagues to improve their teams while maintaining their enjoyment of the game.
